Amateur Gallagher wins CPGA Senior Open

WEST END, N.C. (June 25, 2013) – The Beacon Ridge CPGA Senior Open completed play Thursday afternoon at Beacon Ridge Golf & CC in West End, NC.

Amateur Jim Gallagher of Charlotte, NC was the Overall Championship winner with 2 rounds of 1-under par 71 for a total of 142. Gallagher edged out PGA Professional Chris Tucker of Fort Mill, SC who took home the low professional and finished 1 shot behind Gallagher with a 75-68=143. PGA Professional John Budwine of Apex, NC and amateur Steve Lambert of Summerfield, NC finished just 3 shots of the winner with 145.

Amateur George Kennon of Greensboro, NC stole the show with 2 great rounds of 68-72 for a total 140 to win the Super Senior division. Kennon sank a nice birdie putt on the 18th hole to steal the victory from amateur John Walters of Charlotte, NC. Walters had the low round of the tournament Tuesday, shooting a 67 and almost taking the Super Senior victory.
