Joey Johnson wins Missouri Amateur
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June 23, 2013) — Two top Missouri collegians squared off in Sunday's Missouri State Amateur Championship final.

It was Missouri State University sophomore Joey Johnson defeating Missouri University junior Ryan Zech 7&6 to capture the title at Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City.

Johnson bogeyed the first hole of the day — a par five— before winning four of his next six holes to take a two-up lead on Zech after eight holes.

Zech kept it close the remainder of the first 18 as Johnson held a two-up advantage heading into the final 18 holes before going three-over his next 12 holes to lose 7&6 to Johnson.
