Guillen wins Long Beach Match Play

LONG BEACH, Calif. (June 16, 2013) — Jordan Guillen of Placentia, Calif. was victorious at the Long Beach Amateur Match Play Championship on Sunday, defeating Jacob Schulze of Huntington Beach, Calif. 2&1 in a 36-hole final.
Guillen last played collegiately for Sonoma State University in 2012 while Schulze just finished his freshman year at University of California-Irvine.
The match-play bracket's No. 3 seed, Guillen defeated Pete Fernandez Jr. in Saturday's semifinal and Bruce Sheridan in the quarterfinals. He logged wins over Matt Lord, Justin Gullock and Francisco Reynoso last weekend to move on.
Schulze defeated Adrian Young in Saturday's semifinal after knocking off Nick Swanson in quarterfinal action. He defeated Rick Taniguchi, Boris Stantchev and Jeff Lewis to stay alive last weekend.
