S. Carolina Match Play: Todd Sr. leads
CLINTON, SC (June 13, 2013) -- First round stroke play qualifying results of the 41st South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, SC on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 (6884 yards, par 36-36—72, 74.4/147). Laurens, SC native Walter Todd, Sr. fired a bogey free score of 65 to lead after Round 1. His squeaky clean scorecard featured birdies on 2, 4, 9, 12, 13, 14, and 16. Defending champion, Matthew Laydon of Charleston, SC is exempt into the match play portion of the championship and will be the number one seed. After 36 holes the field of 102 players will be cut to the low 31 players for match play and be seeded 2-32.

ABOUT THE South Carolina Amateur Match Play

Championship format is 36 holes of stroke play to determine 32 qualifiers for match play. The defending champion is seeded number one for match play if otherwise eligible.

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 13th birthday, is a legal resident of South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 7.4.
