There are 'bucket list' courses and destinations for golfers. And then, there are the courses a very select few of us even see, let alone visit or play.

Among those courses is the very private Seminole Golf Club.

According to a Golf Digest report, players that qualify for the 2021 Walker Cup will get the opportunity to see the course as the Juno Beach, Fla. Donald Ross design hosts its first competition open to the public in more than 80 years.

According to the report, club president Jimmy Dunne, a New York native, saw how well the Walker Cup went this past September at the prestigious National Golf Links of America and immediately went to work positioning the idea to the USGA and the board at Seminole.

The 6,836-yard track will ultimately be long for the assumed bombers eight years from now but the windy conditions and brutal green complexes will undoubtedly challenge the next great crop of stars from the U.S. and Great Britain & Ireland.

Amateurgolf.com will have more on this report and announcements.

ABOUT THE The Walker Cup

The Walker Cup Match is a biennial 10-man amateur team competition between the USA and a team composed of players from Great Britain and Ireland and selected by The R&A. It is played over two days with 18 singles matches and eight foursomes (alternate-shot) matches.

The first United States Walker Cup Team, which in 1922 defeated the GB&I side, 8-4, at the National Golf Links of America, is considered among the best teams ever and included Francis Ouimet, Bob Jones, Charles “Chick” Evans and Jess Sweetser. Many of the game’s greatest players have taken part in Walker Cup competition, including U.S. Open champions Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth for the USA and Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose for Great Britain and Ireland.
