Event History The Georgia Girls’ Championship began in 1980 and has been played at GSGA member clubs across the state. This year marks the 28th annual event and the first time it will be contested at Dunwoody Country Club. A total of 18 different girls have captured the title over the years, led by Tifton’s Nanci Bowen, who won four straight from 1981-84. A number of Georgia Girls’ Champions have moved on to the professional ranks, including inaugural champion Cindi Schreyer of Forest Park (1980), Bowen, Tonya Gill of Atlanta (1986), Krissie Register (1994), Angela Jerman of Columbus (1995-96) and Diana Ramage of Fayetteville (1999).
