A bit of history: First held in 2005, the NCGA Women's
Amateur Championship is the association's premier even
for female golfers. The championship, for some a
stepping stone to turning professional, is held at Poppy
Hills and Spyglass Hill. Lynne Cowan is the only
multiple-year winner, capturing back-to-back titles in
2006 and 2007.
First held in 2007, the NCGA Senior Women's Amateur
Championship is for amateur women players aged 50
and over. Marianne Towersey (2007, 2012), Sandy
Woodruff (2011, 2013) and Patricia Cornett (2009,
2010) share the record with two total victories.
