The Country Club of Troy, established in 1925, is one of the premier private country clubs in the capital region, and the only private club in Rensselaer County. The club’s first President, Charles Stone, retained Walter J. Travis, a leading American golf architect, to design the golf course. Travis’ layout, although moderate in length, measuring just over 6400 yards from the back tees, provides golfers quite a test with its numerous, well placed bunkers and undulating greens. Recent restorations of the course consist of a state of the art irrigation system, restored bunkers, new cart paths, and enhancements to selected tee complexes. The Country Club of Troy is the last course that Travis designed and the club is a proud member of the Walter J. Travis Society.
