EDINA, MN (September 9, 2005) -- Bill Tadewald, John Anderson and Scott Fenwick of Bunker Hills Golf Club and Scott Boettcher of Minneapolis Golf Club came from one stroke back to win the 4th annual Minnesota Golf Association Team Championship today at Somerby Golf Club in Brainerd, Minn.

Two members of the team – Tadewald and Anderson – won the event in 2003 at Maddens’ at Gull Lake-The Classic when they teamed up with Bobby Miller and Greg Jamieson. For Fenwick and Boettcher, it’s their first MGA Team title.

The four-man squad finished with a two-day total of eight-under-par – a score that ties the tournament record set by defending champs, Thomas Auld, Wayne Severud and Todd Sinjem of Edinburgh USA and John Sexton of Valleywood Golf Club.

Day one leaders, Leif Carlson of Hastings Country Club, Tim Holland of Owatonna Country Club, Greg Peterson of Rochester Golf and Country Club and Greg Murphy of Keller Golf Club, shot three-over-par for the day, sinking any hopes they had of claiming their first MGA Team title.

Former MGA Team champs, Joe Stansberry of Hiawatha Golf Club, James Wahl of Windsong Farm Golf Club and Don Howe of Olympic Hills Golf Club never made a legitimate run at the title either, shooting two-under-par for the day and finishing in a tie for fifth.

Meanwhile, the team of Larry Barnacle, Brent Barnacle and Eric Hayne of White Bear Yacht Club and Erick Reim of Town and Country Club, vaulted from seventh to third by shooting four-under-par – the low round of the day.

Scores for the MGA Team Championship are calculated using one best-ball score among two two-person teams (four players total).
