WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (July 16, 2012) -- “Get in the hole,” said Larry Nicolet after Dave Williamson hit his tee shot on the par 3, 13th hole. With one hop to the left, Crawfordsville’s Williamson holed out from the 139 yard tee box at Ackerman Hills Golf Club. His five-under par, 66, today earned him the number one seed for the match play portion of competition.

“I hit a good 9 iron on 13. It landed about four or five feet right of the hole, sucked back left at the last moment, and rolled in,” explained Williamson, after adding a one to his scorecard.

Williamson’s round included birdies on holes 1, 6, 16, and 18, and his only bogey came on hole 9.

After Today’s round, the field consisting of 33 players was cut to the top 16. John Parker, who fired a 76 today, was the final player to make the cut, giving him the sixteenth seed. Parker will face Williamson tomorrow morning.

“I’m just going to try to get as far as I can,” said Williamson. “I would love to get into the finals. Every match will be tough though, and it will probably take better scores than 66 to win it all,” he added.

Terry Werner, from Dyer, is seeded second, after shooting a three-under par 69 today.
