SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Aug. 12, 2007)-- If this year's San Diego City Championship is to be the last for Jamie Puterbaugh, he certainly went out in style, winning his third straight title with a four-day total of 2-under-par 286.

"It means a lot to have three, for sure," said Puterbaugh after the round. "It feels like this was the hardest of all of them, and it might be the last one I play in.

"I just kept thinking about this tournament all summer, hoping I could pull off three."

Puterbaugh, a rising senior at San Diego State University, did his damage at the toughest course of the three courses used in the tourney, Torrey Pines South, future site of the 2008 U.S. Open. He fired a 3-under-69 last Sunday, and followed that up with an even-par 72 on the final day of play.

"I think the key to my success is playing South really well," said Puterbaugh. "I seem to really have a thing for the course, I get along with it pretty well."

Connor Driscoll and Mitchell Fedorka tied for second at 289.

In the senior flight, Don Ludwig pulled out a one-stroke victory over Don Garczewski with a 304. Bob Stermon took third at 306.

The women's flight was also close, with winner Petra Cole stumbling a bit with an 88 in the final round, but not enough to fall out of the top spot. She finished with a 325, one stroke better than Lucy McGovern and Samantha Roberts.
