PALM CITY, Florida (Feb. 13, 2016) -- Christopher Reeves and John Powers have posted rounds of 65 and 66 to lead the Mid-Am division at the International Four-Ball by two shots over three teams.
Giving chase are Steve Johnson and John Blackwell (posting a tournament-low 62 after a first round 71 to get right back into it) and Tom Parker/Justin Goodhue plus the Mass. team of Herbie Aikens and Doug Clapp.
2015 U.S. Mid-Am champ Sammy Schmitz, shaking off some rust before his Masters appearance in April, is at 8-under with partner Jesse Polk, along with the team of Jason Pool and Barry Dyche.
In the Senior Division, past Welsh Senior Open Amateur winner Michael Mercier of Rochester, NY and his legendary Rochester amateur partner John Kircher lead at 14-under. One shot back is the team of Keith Decker and Max Sughrue from Virginia.
Reeves won the Mid-Am division with Reeves last year; the two have broken up their partnership and it's probably no surprise to the rest of the field to see them leading their respective divisions.
Ron Waeghe and Tom Blank won the 36-hole Legends Division, firing 6-under to edge John Osborne and John Darr by a single shot.
