Hendley Captures Second SCGA Mid-Amateur Title

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Todd Hendley of Greer came away victorious at the 34th Annual SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship at Green Valley Country Club with a final round 69 for a tournament total of 8 under par 136. Two time SCGA Mid-Amateur Champion Lee Palms of Greenville finished four strokes behind Hendley after a final round 71 to claim second place.
Hendley began his day with a two shot lead over Palms heading into the final round. Consistency proved key with 13 pars, 4 birdies, and just one bogey to complete Sunday’s round. This victory marks Hendley’s second SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship after winning in 2012 at the Forest Lake Club, and his second major victory of 2015 having won the SCGA Senior Championship in May.
Finishing in a four way tie for fourth place are Steve Liebler (Irmo), Kyle Milner (Spartanburg), Jeremey Revis ( Greenville) , and Buddy Davis (Greenville), all with a tournament total of 1 under par 143.
The 2015 SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship was conducted on the par 72 ~ 6,781 yard Green Valley Country Club course in Greenville, SC. The field consisted of 120 individuals playing 36 holes of stroke play after the second round was canceled due to inclement weather. The Mid-Amateur is one of 21 Major Championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association and is in its 34th year of existence.
