Reigning Trans-Miss Senior winner among leaders at Arizona Mid-Amateur

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Jeff New, the 2015 Trans-Miss Senior Amateur champion, was one of four people to have posted two-under 69 in the first round of the Arizona Mid-Amateur Championship, being held at Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale.
New had a wild front nine, making four birdies to go along with a double-bogey seven at the par-5 seventh hole.
Other players in at 69 include Shankar Natarajan, Creg Cesarek, and Grant Cesarek.
Defending champion Ken Tanigawa, who recently captured the Arizona Amateur title, is one of seven players tied for fifth place at one-under par 70.

72-holes of individual stroke play at gross. A cut to the
low 60-players + ties will be made after 36 holes.
