Dennis, Surber go wire-to-wire at Texas Women's Four-Ball

MONTGOMERY, Texas — The team of Stacy
Dennis and Jessica Surber went wire to wire to
win the Women’s Four-Ball Championship at
Walden on Lake Conroe. Dennis and Surber
finished with a 5-under par total of 141 to win by
two strokes.
Stacy Dennis, of Addison, and Jessica Surber, of
the Woodlands, won the overall championship by
two strokes over the team of Kyle Stevens and
Jan Rapp. Dennis and Surber got off to a slow
start with two bogies in their first six holes. The
team was able to bounce back and card five
birdies in a row on their way to a 2-under par
total of 71, 5-under par total 141 for the
championship.
Kyle Stevens, of Waco, and Jan Rapp, of Dallas,
finished First Gross in Flight One with a 36-hole
total of 143. Kim Cure and Lina Acker finished
First Gross in Flight Two with a 36-hole total of
149.
Peggy Spann was also awarded the 2014 South
Texas Volunteer of the Year Award. Peggy Spann
has played a key role in the volunteer program
of the Texas Golf Association. Spann also serves
on the TGA Board of Directors and the TGA
Women’s Committee.

ABOUT THE Texas Women's Four-Ball
Eligibility: Entries are open to female amateur
golfers with a certified GHIN Handicap Index.
Player Field: The starting field will consist of 50
teams (100 players). In the event the
championship becomes over-subscribed, acceptance
of entries will be based on the lowest
combined team USGA Handicap Index. Maximum
spread of partners index is 8.0.
Format: 36 holes of Four-Ball Stroke Play. Two
competitors play as partners, each playing her own
ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for
the hole.
