2016 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball host Winged Foot G.C.
The inaugural U.S. Amateur Four-Ball was met
with great success. We saw top
mid-
amateur players Nathan Smith and Todd White
take down junior soon-to-be
superstars
Austin Connelly and Sam Burns in the semifinals
at the historic Olympic Club
in San
Francisco, leading to their eventual
championship match victory over Sherrill
Britt and
Greg Earnhardt.
The event is headed in 2016 to another historic
venue, this time on the East
Coast.
Winged Foot Golf Club, home to five U.S. Opens,
two U.S. Amateurs, and a
PGA
Championship, among many other major events,
will host the second annual
event at
its East and West courses.
The A.W. Tillinghast masterpiece has its most
recent memory as the site of
the 2006
U.S. Open, where Phil Mickelson notably double
bogeyed the 72nd hole to lose
the
elusive championship to Geoff Ogilvy.
The next great USGA memory will be written
next May in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
when the
best four-ball competitors will be crowned

Two teams posted bogey-free 64s at Annandale to earn co-medalist honors and advance to the 2nd annual
U.S. Amateur Four-Ball. The state's reigning Mid-Amateur champion Josh Lampley and his playing partner
Brandon Laird were among the two groups to card 64, as well as Zach Longgrear and Edward Wall. Full

Two 63s and a 64 advanced to Winged Foot at Worthington Manor, with Ben Warnquist and Brandon Cigna
securing the top spot in qualifying alongside Rij Patel and Eric Hall. They'll be joined by Christopher Baloga
and Jeffrey Castle, who won a multiple-team playoff to earn the final spot.

| Superstition Mountain, Ariz.
Scottsdale residents Jeffrey Fujimoto and Patrick Moore carded 63 in the desert, narrowly beating out other
qualifiers Camron Howell and Gregory Hunt, and Travis Milleman and Ted Grey, who both won a 3-for-2
playoff that left Joshua Coleman and Mark Coward on the outside looking in.
August 31, 2015 | Spring Brook Country Club
| Morristown, N.J.
Grant Skyllas and his partner Joshua Krumholz easily advanced in New
Jersey,
finishing with five birdies and an eagle on the back nine to shoot 10-
under 62 and medal
by two shots. Jason Bataille and Brian Whitman carded 64 to finish
second, while
four other teams tied for third place at 65, though only one could secure
the final
qualifying spot. Matthew Finger and Michael Korcuba moved on after
winning the

Billy McDonald and John Kelly scattered nine
birdies to make up
for three bogeys in Western Massachusetts en
route to earning
medalist honors. Four teams tied for second
place at five-under
65, with Bill Moore and Kevin Vandenberg
winning the playoff to
be the second and final team to advance to

Notable Massachusetts area mid-amateur players Herbie Aikens and
Matt
Parziale medaled with 9-under par 63. They were one of three teams
advancing
to Winged Foot, including Benjamin and David Spitz, as well as Parker
Smith
and Dan Crockett, who needed to get through a playoff against Jamie
Ferullo
and Michael Mahan at 7-under par. Full

Ohio
University of Toledo teammates Otto Black and Colin Joseph fired 10-
under 62 at
Four Bridges to finish as top
qualifiers by three shots. Joe Brannon and Kyle Hodges tied for second
place with
Paul Day and Chris Coleman,
and advanced via playoff after both teams shot 7-under 65. Brannon and
Hodges
birdied five of their last six
holes, while Day and Coleman made just one birdie in their final eight.

Rock, Ark.
Stephen Cox and Beau Glover escaped a playoff against Texas
A&M golfer Cameron Champ of Sacramento, Calif. and his
player partner, and Aggie teammate, Jake Goodman of San
Antonio. Both teams shot 63, but only one qualifying spot was
available. Champ and Goodman will have to serve as first
alternates while Cox and Glover are headed to Winged Foot
next May.
August 25, 2015 | Crag Burn Golf Club | East
Aurora, N.Y.
Three teams posted five-under par 67, while
only two spots were available at this New
York site. The teams of Jonathan Dunlap and
Paul Gortnar, as well as Patrick Ross and
Brandon Matthews, parred the first playoff hole
to eliminate James Smith and Jamie
Miller, who will serve as first alternate.
Matthews plays golf for Temple University and
won this year's BMW Philadelphia Open. Full

Two teams fired 65 at Otter Creek, moving on to
the second annual U.S.
Amateur Four-Ball Championship next May at
Winged Foot. The duo of
Thomas Goss and Caleb Wolters, as well as Erik
Martin and Mark Strickland

Shooting the lowest round of qualifying thus far
was the pair of G. Michael
Garcia and
Ted Grassi III, both of Erie, Pennsylvania. Going
super low with 61, the team

Robert Pickett and Collin Haag (62) and Chris
Okeson and Ryan Prickette (64),
who
both advanced to Winged Foot, as well.

Allen, Va.
A pair of talented Virginia area golfers were co-
medalists at The Federal Club
as Scott
Shingler and Justin Young fired 7-under 65 to
advance to Winged Foot.
Shingler was
the 2011 Virginia Amateur champion while Young
was the 2013 Virginia
Amateur Public
Links winner. Also medalling was the team of
Tyler Gulliksen and Adam

Snowshoe Run | Snowshoe, W.V.
Trenton and Mitchell Roush used a slew of back-
nine birdies to shoot 64 in
West
Virginia and secure the only available qualifying
spot. The pair made birdie on
holes
11 through 15, and threw in one more at 17 for
