BROKEN ARROW, OK (6-30-15) -- The Club at Indian Springs (River) was in great shape with the help of the Spring's relentless rains, which was good news for Austin Hannah of Jenks as he drained 11 birdies over two days to win the Oklahoma Mid-Amateur Championship in Broken Arrow.
Hannah's lone bogey on the day came on the 162-yard par-3 13th hole. But with three birdies on the front side and three more on the back, including clutch birdies on Nos. 14 and 15, Hannah posted the low round of the day at 5-under 67. With his first round 69, he finished the tournament with an 8-under 136 and a one stroke victory over Round One leader Rob Laird.
Laird, from Tulsa, led the Mid-Am coming into the day after finishing with a 5-under 67. He was in good shape after posting a 3-under 33 on the front nine of today's round, but a crushing snowman on the 555-yard par-5 15th brought him back to even for the day. Birdies on the par-5 17th and the par-4 18th weren't enough to overcome the triple bogey, leaving him one shot behind the winner.
Also finishing in red numbers for the Championship were Tulsa's Draegen Majors who finished at 5-under and in third place, and local product Jeff Cox of Broken Arrow, who finished in fourth place. His final round of 4-under went with his even par for a tournament total of 4-under 140.
