CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (May 30, 2015) -- On a tough day to score, Scott Shingler, of Haymarket, put up a solid 69 on top of a first round of 70 to stand alone in first at 139.

Shingler, 43, will be tough to beat on Sunday. The 2014 VSGA Player-of-the-Year is also in the record books of Virginia and D.C. golf.

In 2011 he captured a rare local grand slam – the 2011 Virginia and D.C. Amateur titles along with the 2011 D.C. Mid-Amateur (25-and-over) and the 2010 Virginia Mid-Am championships.

Shingler is the only player in history to hold all four titles simultaneously.

Defending champ Buck Brittain (72-68) made up some considerable ground today and should be a solid challenger to Shingler on Sunday. He moved into a tie for 2nd with round 1 leader Vincent Nadeau.

Nadeau had opened with a brilliant round of 66 on Friday but succumbed to the conditions a bit on Saturday. Still, his 74 kept him right in the middle of the action and part of the final group on Sunday.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (May 29, 2015) -- Vincent Nadeau got off to a fast start today at the 79th Annual Kenridge Invitational, posting 66 to take a two shot lead over Alex Simmons.

Nadeau, a former Virginia Commonwealth player from Penhook, wasn't bothered by the firm greens or healthy rough around the Farmington Country Club layout. But he'll have plenty of pursuers over the next two rounds, including 2014 winner Buck Britain (72) and one of Virginia's top players, Keith Decker (70).
