LA QUINTA, Calif. — Long Beach Poly High School junior Jericho Betts captured a three-shot win at the Future Champions Golf Memorial Day Championship. Playing the Nicklaus Tournament course at PGA WEST, Betts, who lives in Signal Hill, Calif., shot rounds of 70 and 73 to win the Boys 15-18 division.

Koichiro Sato of Irvine, also a junior, took second place at two-over par 146, including a final-round 72. Two shots back of Sato were a trio of players tying for third place at 148, including high school sophomores Jarvis Lu and Jacob Montes, and freshman Derek Kim.

Ashley Mayhall, a sophomore from Valencia, Calif., won the Girls 15-18 division thanks to her opening-round 72, which was low for the tournament. She posted 80 on Sunday in the final round but still secured a one-stroke victory over senior Chloe Belle Hooton of Del Mar.
