AGC Two-Man Links at Bandon Dunes: Round 1 Results
Ben Whipple (left) and Sherman Haggerty
Ben Whipple (left) and Sherman Haggerty

BANDON, Oregon (May 2, 2015) -- Sherman Haggerty and Ben Whipple may have put 1500 miles between them (Ben Whipple having moved from California to South Carolina) but their partnership continues strong. Today the two-time defending Senior champs of the Two Man Links Championship partnered for a best-ball 73 on a tough, windy day at Pacific Dunes, just a week before the country's best women players will tee it up there in the U.S. Women's Four-Ball.

Haggerty hit a shot on the par-3 11th hole that left his partners amazed. Staring at the Pacific Ocean on the left, a back-left pin placement, and a strong wind in the face, he started his four iron at the edge of the Pacific, only to see it hang for what seemed like an eternity before it floated to its resting place just 10 feet from the cup. He made the birdie, likely the only one there today. And on the 13th Haggerty wasn't so lucky with the hazard, but he took a drop and, with his partner in trouble, chipped in for a par.

In the Net Division, the father-son team of Charles and Mason Mazzola from Oakland, Calif. posted a solid 2-under 69 to share first place with Jeff Potter (Santa Ana, Calif.) and Mark Schaeffer (Sammamish, Wash.). They are trailed by Reggie Griggs (Oakland, Calif.) and Andrew Zacks (San Francisco) who posted even par 71.

Tomorrow's second round will be played at Bandon Trails; the final round will be at Bandon Dunes on Monday.
