CHARLESTON, S.C. — Scoring on day two of the Azalea Invitational yielded fewer red numbers than Thursday's opening round. Though one thing did remain the same as 47-year-old Todd White maintained his one-shot lead.

White, who opened the tournament on Thursday with a six-under 65, posted 67 on day two and continues to lead the 111-man field by a single stroke. White is a 13-time USGA participant, including two appearances in 2014. He reached the round of 64 at the U.S. Amateur and lost to eventual runner-up Brad Nurski in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Mid-Amateur. Scott Harvey, the man who defeated Nurski in the final, shot 68 on Thursday and is tied for eighth along with 2015 Jones Cup winner Austin Connelly and six other players.

Brazil's top-ranked amateur Andre Tourinho and Patrick Christovich of New Orleans are tied for second place on White's tail. Tourinho blitzed the Country Club of Charleston front nine, going bogey-free with five birdies to post 31 before shooting 34 on the back. Christovich, who opened with 66, got to 11-under with his seventh birdie of the day on 14, but bogeyed 16 and 17 to drop back to nine with Tourinho.

The highest ranked player in the field, former Kent State golfer Corey Conners of Canada, shot two-over 73 on Friday to drop back to even par. The second-ranked amateur in the world is tied for 32nd place ten shots behind the leader White.

Third-round play will begin Saturday morning at the Country Club of Charleston. The tournament will cut the field after Saturday's third round to the low 60 players and ties.
