Corey Conners, the 2014 U.S. Amateur runner-up, has been given a sponsor exemption into the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open. The tournament will be played March 5-8 at Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, opposite the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral.

"I am so pleased to have been given this opportunity in Puerto Rico," Conners said in a release. He will use the event as a tuneup for the Masters.

"I will be doing everything I can to justify it as well as extend my knowledge and experience," Conners said.

Conners, 23, enjoyed a highly successful 2014. Beside making it to the final of the U.S. Amateur, the Listowel, Ontario, native won the Jones Cup Invitational and three college events in his senior year at Kent State. He also played in the PGA Tour's RBC Canadian Open.

Conners, a four-year member of Golf Canada's National Team, continued his strong play into 2015 as he won the Lake Macquarie Amateur in Australia and finished inside the top 15 at the Jones Cup.
