Women’s style on the golf course has made dramatic shifts in the last few years. Mirroring the phenomenon that is occurring across the board with men’s golf apparel, women’s wear is shifting from the traditional golf aesthetic to a more inclusive lifestyle approach. In addition, there is an optimization of performance wear with new technologies (cooling and heating) that create pieces for all weather on the course. The companies below are designing collections that are providing a wide variety of looks that are stylish, high quality, fitting, and of course functional on and off the golf course.  Here’s a rundown of what three established companies and three new companies are doing in women's apparel:

MAJOR PLAYERS

When it comes to women’s golf apparel there are some companies that have managed to build and maintain significant industry presence.  These companies have created the signature looks for their brand and update those designs seasonally to create interesting and functional contemporary pieces.

Callaway Apparel – The Traditionalist at Heart

The Callaway Dyna Polo
Callaway Apparel consistently designs classic collections of women’s golf apparel. Designed to make you look, feel, and perform like a golfer, Callaway supplies a seemingly endless variety of choices ranging from comfort and style to color scheme and performance technology. There is still a refreshing diverse collection, specifically in their polos’ cuts and collars (ribbed collar, mock neck, sleeveless).  While the standard collection is “simple, reliable golf apparel in a roomier, more generous fit” the rest of their pieces highlight performance and style through high quality pieces and temperature technologies, such as contrast heat transfer Chevron and polyester textured fleece as well as moisture wicking in UV protection in their sporty outerwear.  callawayapparel.com

Cobra Puma Golf – Stand Out Technology

If one thing could be said about Cobra Puma in 2015 is that it’s all about the technology.  Combined with their strong yet scaled back and strategic use of color, Cobra Puma is definitely amping up their use of the various technologies that influence the form and behavior of their pieces. From the Stretch DryCELL moisture- wicking fabric, to the CLEANSPORT NXT natural anti- odor finish, FreshGuard® to help neutralize odors, and the UV +30 UPF, each piece addresses and provides solutions for the challenges that a golfer faces in any weather condition.  Worn by Lexi Thompson on the LPGA Tour, it is evident that her taste and talent influences the overall collection through a feminine, yet bold aesthetic that creates a variety of outfit combinations.  The tops boast a variety of eye catching designs, including, but not limited to line print, tonal stripe, colorblock, and geometric print.  Nice finishes, such as the keyhole design on the back, and the DuoSwing armhole allows for simple, understated and classy additions that make a round more comfortable and of course, stylish.  cobrapumagolf.com

Engineered with technology and style for a golfer who exudes athleticism, Nike Golf consistently delivers flattering fit and lasting comfort that captures the golfer’s natural range of movement. In particular, Nike offers a tasteful and comfortable alternative to traditional golf pants with their line of golf tights. Utilizing performance material such as Dri-FIT fabric, a sweat-wicking fabric and light weight breathable fabric, Nike’s new line consists of feminine compositions accented with contemporary designs such as color blocking and the ombre color pattern predominantly using neutrals, pinks, and purples.  www.nikegolf.com

New year, new collections, and new companies.  It’s exciting when new companies debut new golf apparel for the year.  There are many new quality collections,  but the following three companies stand out with their well constructed designs of individual pieces.  While the collections do not match the established companies in terms of quantity, their pieces are sophisticated with astute designs that are both feminine and functional that highlight the underlying theme of wearing multifunctional womenswear instead of traditional sportswear.
