Four-shot win for Mark Gardiner at Missouri Senior Amateur
COLUMBIA, Mo. (Sept. 23, 2014) — Mark Gardiner went wire-to-wire at the Missouri Senior Amateur, shooting rounds of 69 and 68 to win the title by four shots.
Jeff Johnson finished alone in second place at 141, shooting 68 in the final round to jump into the runner-up position. Wayne Fredrick and Steve Groom finished in a tie for third place at 142, one shot behind Johnson. Both players shot 71 each round.
Gardiner qualified for the 2014 U.S. Senior Open after shooting 70 at The Legends Country Club secure the only qualifying spot at the site. He eventually missed the cut, shooting 83-75 at Oak Tree.
