Hill leads early at Georgia Senior Amateur
ALBANY, Ga. (August 26, 2014) - Steve Hill of Marietta leads the Georgia Senior Championship after posting a 2-under-par 70 in round one. The 28th annual competition is being played at Doublegate Country Club, August 26-28.
Three players sit one stroke behind Hill at 1-under-par 71, including 2012 Georgia Senior champion and reigning USGA Senior Amateur champion, Doug Hanzel of Savannah. Nick Kirkland of Snellville and Larry Vaughan of Greensboro also posted a 71. Defending champion, Jack Hall of Sea Island, is one of seven players to finish round one at even-par 72.
The field of 120 players will be cut to the low 70 and ties after 36 holes.
Entries were open to male amateur golfers who are GSGA members and age 55 and older as of August 26. The field was determined by lowest USGA Handicap Indexes.
