South Carolina Open: Cody Clepper, Davis Womble tie for low am

FLORENCE, S.C. (July 24, 2014) - Rohan Allwood, a PGA apprentice and Head Golf Professional at The Woodlands Golf & Country Club in Columbia, SC, has won the 63rd South Carolina Open held at Florence Country Club in Florence, SC.With birdies on the 14th & 16th holes, Allwood secured his three-shot victory with three straight rounds in the sixties (69-66-67=202). He was able to tame the complex, undulating putting surfaces of Florence Country Club this week, which kept him in it until the end. This is Allwood's first Carolinas PGA major championship victory.

Amateurs Cody Clepper of Sumter, SC and Davis Womble of High Point, NC were the low amateurs of the tournament, both finishing in second place at 5-under par 205. 17 total amateurs made the 36-hole cut and were in the 54-player final round.

Rick Morton, a PGA Professional playing out of Rock Creek Golf & Country Club in Jacksonville, NC finished four strokes back in fourth place at 4-under par 206. Morton takes home the Senior Bonus purse available to the low competitor who is age 50 or older.For PGA Professionals only, the Par-3 Hole #7 was used as the Global Golf Sales Par-3 Challenge Hole during the event. The Global Golf Sales Par-3 Challenge is a season-long contest that tracks Carolinas PGA Professionals' performance on a Par-3 hole at each designated event.
