Oregon Amateur: Simmons shoots 5-under to lead
WOODBURN, Ore. (June 16, 2014) -- Kurt Simmons fired a 5-under 66 and leads after the first round of play at the 2014 Oregon State Amateur Championship at the OGA Golf Course.
In the 105th playing of the event, Simmons holds a one-shot lead over a trio of players entering the second and final round of stroke-play qualifying.
Tye Gabriel, Tim O'Neal and Justin Wiles all shot 4-under 67 and will fight for medalist honors on Tuesday.
Gerrit Chambers is alone in fifth after a 3-under 68 while Scott Hval, Taylor Schmidt and Justin Kadin all shot 2-under 69.

golfers with USGA Handicap indexes of 5.0 or
less for men, and 15.0 or less for women, who are
members in good standing of an OGA
member
club. For men, the low 64 finishers from the first two
rounds of
stroke play will advance to
single elimination match play. For women, the low

stroke play will advance to
single elimination match play.
