MEMPHIS, Tenn. (April 15, 2013) — True Temper putter shafts went head to head in an exciting playoff that determined the champion of the 2013 Masters Tournament. The winner secured his green jacket on the second playoff hole with his True Temper long putter shaft in his Scotty Cameron putter while the runner up played a fierce short game with his PING putter outfitted with a “short” True Temper putter shaft.

Even given this exciting finale, the major breakout story from Augusta was the impressive play from Guan Tianlang, the 14-year-old amateur from China commanding the course with Project X PXi in his irons. The amateur not only made the cut to play at The Masters but also earned the distinction as the lowest scoring amateur in the field….an impressive feat at one of the game’s most challenging courses.

“The Masters really does have a tradition like no other golf tournament and I am proud to say that True Temper has a tradition of winning at the Masters like no other shaft manufacturer, “ said Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper Sports. “Our company has the unique distinction of being in the bag of every Masters Champion since the start of the tournament. Equally impressive is the fact that we have not once paid one of those champions to play our products which is a true testament to the trust champions have in True Temper.”

Truth in Numbers:

• Number of sets of shafts by True Temper in the field: 72

True Temper manufactures more putter shafts than all other shaft manufacturers combined and has shipped more than 400,000 long putter shafts globally in just the past two years. True Temper’s full range of putter shafts includes long and belly putter shafts which can be found in putters from all major Equipment Manufactures.

The Project X PXi iron shaft incorporates the hallmarks of the Project X band—tour- caliber spin control and tip stability—in a lightweight package. Project X PXi’s lighter weight produces greater distance and improved feel through an optimized butt to tip stiffness calibration..
