Jacobsen started Sunday’s round with a two-stroke lead after an opening-round 68, followed by CharlesKingsbaker of Bend, Ore., two back at 70 and Kevin Simons of Portland, Ore.three back at 71.

“I just kept hitting one shot at a time, I didn’t pay attention at all with what the scores were,” Jacobsen said. “I really enjoyed the golf course…just a treat - John Fought has done a terrific job.”

Jacobsen finished with a 142 to claim the title, with Kingsbaker and Byron Patton of Tigard, Ore., finishing tied for runner-up at 146.

In the Women’s Division, defending Champion Brie Stone continued her dominant play in the Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship holding off late-day surges by Cappy Gray of Portland, Ore., and Rosie Cook of Bend, Ore. Stone also won the event in 2010 & 2011.

“The round was a little bit of a struggle,” Stone said. “I’ve been putting so well this year so it was just a little frustrating. It was just a tough round.”

With the win, Stone completed a hat-trick for the year, having already won both the Women’s Stroke Play and the OGA Tournament of Champions.

Players at the event couldn’t have been more complimentary of the newly redesigned course, which underwent a $3.75 million, 20-month renovation finished earlier this summer.

“Today was another great day at Glaze Meadow,” said OGA Tournament Director Brent Whittaker. “That’s one of the things about this course, it can be set up for scoring or as difficult as you want to make it. We made it tough and the players still really enjoyed it.”
