NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Aug. 20, 2012) -- Kokomo's Tim Miller and Fort Wayne's John Zitkovic fired two-under par, 69s, at the IGA Senior Amateur Championship at Harbour Trees Golf Club to share a one-shot lead over the rest of the field heading into tomorrow's final round. Miller and Zitkovic were two of only six players to break par today.
"I started off on the front nine with two-three putts in the first nine holes," said Miller. "I ended up with four birdies in total and kept my score to two-under par for the remainder of the day," he added.
Miller's birdies came on the par 5, 2nd hole, the par 4, 3rd, the par 5, 17th, and the par 3, 18th.
"I won back in 2005 and 2006 and I would love to win again," said Miller.
Zitkovic's round also consisted of four birdies coming on holes 1, 7, 11, and 12.
"I hit a lot of greens today and I kept it below the hole," said Zitkovic. "I also got up and down on 15 and 18 from the bunker for par and I made a lot of three, four, and five foot putts to save par. I hope to go out tomorrow and shoot par. It will help if I can make a couple of birdies on the par fives," he added.
Miller and Zitkovic will tee off tomorrow in the final group along with Zionsville’s Mark Imman, who is just two shots back.
Carmel's John Lauri is leading in the Super Senior field, after firing an even-par 71 today.
The Super Senior Amateur Championship was created last year. It is open to players ages 65 and older.
