KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 10, 2012) -- Tim Jackson of Germantown claimed his fifth Tennessee Amateur Championship (1994, 1998, 2001, 2005, 2012) by a margin of two strokes Friday over 2012 SunTrust Tennessee Open Champion Craig Smith. Jackson grabbed the 36 hole lead and never relented. After two rounds of play Jackson led the field by four strokes. At the 54 hole mark, Jackson had a one stroke lead over fellow final group member and round one leader Lexus Keoninh. Jackson would increase his lead at the halfway point of round four to two strokes over Craig Smith and would continue to cruise from there. After 72 holes of play, Jackson’s 8-under par 272 total captured the 97th Annual Tennessee Amateur hosted by Cherokee Country Club of Knoxville.
