PARAMUS, N.J. (July 20, 2012) -– Medford’s Mike Meisenzahl won today’s rain-shortened Arcola Cup, the only golfer among 75 to break par.

Meisenzahl, 24, shot 1-under 71 during the morning round at Arcola Country Club and was awarded the title after rain led officials to stop play and eventually call it early in the the afternoon round.

Meisenzahl, who plays out of Little Mill, had five birdies and four bogeys in his debut at the course that played 7,056 yards.. He was 2-over through his first eight holes, then turned it around.

“Once I got to the back side, I started to get really comfortable,” said Meisenzahl, a James Madison graduate who tied for seventh at last month’s New Jersey Amateur, “and I got adjusted to the greens.”

New Yorker Dylan Crowley and Andover’s Pat Wilson shot 73, with Crowley taking second via a match of cards.

Bridgewater’s Brian Komline and New Yorker Dan Gabel shot 74, with Komline, a two-time State Open champ, earning fourth via a match of cards.
