Ellis wins 2nd Greenville Invitational
GREENVILLE, Miss. (June 24, 2012) -- The final round of the 2012 Greenville Invitational was full of excitement with low rounds, playoffs and come from behind wins.

Defending Champion Alan Ellis was four shots behind first place going into the final round, but shooting a two-under 34 on the front nine including a triple bogey and an eagle on the par 4 fifth put him back in the hunt. He followed the 34 up with an even par 36 on the back to shoot a two under 70 for a total of 71-70-141 to finish four shots clear of second place Rodney Boswell who shot 74-71-145. His two under 70 was the low round for the day. Ellis becomes the Greenville Invitational Champion for the second year in a row, congratulations Alan.

First Flight was won by Kevin Bement with a great round of one under par 71 today to hold onto his overnight lead to shoot a total of 76-71-147. David Sellers finished in second with 78-75-153 one shot clear of third place.

Second Flight was won by Bill Hood with the low round of the day for the division a two over 74 to give him a total of 80-74-154 and a six shot buffer from second place Scott Jonely with 80-80-160.

Third Flight was won by overnight leader James Glorioso who followed up his first round 84 with a solid 79 today to finish 84-79-163 and three shots clear of second place Randall Merchant who fired 86-80-166.

The Super Senior Division was close amongst the last group coming down to a playoff between Bobo Catoe and Jimmy Wilson both finishing with a two day total of 149. Jimmy Wilson day one leader ended up winning on the fist playoff hole to become the 2012 Super Senior Champion shooting 71-78-149. Tony Gardner also in that last group shot the low round for the day in the division with a one over 73.

ABOUT THE Greenville Invitational

The tournament is scheduled for 36-holes of stroke play. There will be two divisions. The Regular division and a Super Senior division (age 60 and older). The Super Senior Division will play from forward tees. Each division will be flighted after 18 holes of play. Open to all male amateur golfers.
