Missouri Amateur: Berkmeyer vs. Wilson in the finals
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (June 23, 2012) -- Although the 3-time Missouri Amateur champion Skip Berkmeyer was never down in his semifinal match with Ryan Zech, the game was tight all the way to the 18th hole -- and beyond. Zech was 2-down on the 16h tee, a hole he would birdie to cut Berkmeyer's lead in half. Zech missed an opportunity on the 17th when both players made bogey but he would redeem himself with birdie on the par-5 18th, sending the match into extra holes. Berkemeyer made birdie on the first hole in extra time, punching his his ticket to the final match and seeking his fourth title in the last five years.
In the top half of the bracket, Nick Wilson defeated Brevin Giebler 3 and 1.
