Ishee, Goforth atop Miss. State Am leaderboard
MADISON, Miss. (June 8, 2012) -- After a day that featured hot temperatures and high winds, there are two competitors that stand above all the others. Nic Ishee from Gulfport and Grant Goforth from Batesville share the lead with a combined two day total of -2 (142). At the start of the day Ishee found himself just three shots back from our then leader, Cory Williamson, while Goforth was just two back after his -1 (71) yesterday.

Both players will look to hold on to there respective leads as the next two days unfold. Although Ishee and Goforth sit atop the leaderboard, there were four other players out of 142 to come in with under par rounds. Our round of the day went to Hattiesburg's Grant Motter, who fired a -3 (69). He finds himself in a tie for fourteenth place after his opening round 79. Chad Ramey of Fulton and Eddie Brescher III of Jackson fired a -2 (70). Both of them are side by side at a tie for third place. Michael Hodges of Belden was our last under par round with a -1 (71). Hodges is right in the mix of things in a tie for sixth place.

The competition at this year's State Am compares second to none of the State Am's of the past. We currently have 11 players within 5 shots of our leaders, and 23 within 8 shots. Tomorrow's tee times will be split tee's again on 1 and 10 starting at 7:30. We are looking forward to another exciting, competitive round of golf leading up to our fourth and final round on Sunday.
