Hyland, Howe new leaders at SOS Masters
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (April 18, 2012) -- Wednesday marked the half way point for the 72-hole Society of Seniors Masters at Indian Wells Golf Resort. Starting his round today six strokes off the lead, Tom Hyland of Marlton, New Jersey made a statement firing a 7-under-par 65 to jump to the top of the leaderboard.
Hyland sits at 139 (74-65) and holds a one stroke lead over first round co-leader and defending champion Doug Pool, who is at 140 after adding an even par 72 to his 68 yesterday.
The other co-leader from round one, Chris Maletis of Portland, OR struggled today with a 76 and sits in a tie for 10th.
Gary Hardin of Fort Worth, Texas had a nice second round 67 and moved up the leaderboard into a tie for second at 140 (73-67).
In the Super Senior flight first round leader Denny Alexander of Fort Worth, Texas struggled with a 78 in the second round dropping to 11th place. Bob Howe who started his day in a four- way tie for second with an opening round 70, fired a 3-under-par 69 to take the outright lead by three strokes.
Bob Foukle of Broken Arrow, OK and John Richart of La Quinta, CA are tied for second place at 140.
