Medalist and past champion Randy Haag falls to longtime amateurgolf.com member Andrew Biggadike in the round of 16
In next weekend's quarterfinals Biggadike will meet Shintaro Ban. Ban battled 19 holes before defeating William Brueckner of Walnut Creek.
Weston Payne advanced to the quarterfinals by beating Daniel Faulkner 2 & 1. Payne will take on Jake Yount the newly reinstated amateur and prequalifier medalist. Yount scored a 2-up victory over San Francisco's Timothy Nelson.
In the lower bracket Cody Blick of Danville who downed no. 2 seed Nicolo Galletti in the first round advanced with a win on the 22nd hole against MJ Morin of Bakersfield. Blick will now meet up with Nicolas Hoya of So. San Francisco. Noya beat Brett Borchers of Pleasanton 3 & 1.
No. 3 seed Michael Weaver of Berkeley advanced with a decisive 6 & 4 victory over Mark Mance of San Francisco. Weaver will meet San Rafael's Alex Franklin next weekend. Franklin didn't see much of the back nine as he defeated Christopher Moreno-Hunt of Oakland 8 & 7.
The quarterfinals and semifinals continue next Saturday with the 36-hole finals played on Sunday.
Round of 32 Recap
Medalist and top seed Randy Haag, won his first match at the 96th San Francisco City 1-up over John Swain of San Francisco. Haag, the 2011 Stocker Cup champion, advanced in his quest to win his first City since 1999.
Number two seed Nicolo Galletti of Clayton fell to no. 32 seed, Cody Blick of Danville 4 & 2.
Jake Yount of Alamo, who was medalist in the pre-qualifer and made it through a playoff to make the cut, beat Lafayette's Rick Reinsberg 1-up.
