Florida Windermere Winter Series recap

WINDERMERE, Fla (Feb 21, 2012)-- Jerry Rose captured the Winter Series event run by the Florida State Golf Association at Windermere Country Club in Windermere, February 20-21. He was joined in the winner’s circle by Dennis Brady and Jerry Jackson, who won the Senior and Super Senior divisions respectively.

Jerry Rose, of Sarasota, captured the 40-54 Division posting a tournament total of one-under par 143. Rose fired the low round of the tournament with a first round of three-under par 69, to take a four stroke lead into the final round. In the final round Rose expanded his lead after shooting a round of two-over par 74, to win by an impressive six strokes.

Pete DeLongchamp, of Sebring, finished in second place after rounds of 73-76 for a tournament total of 149. Stevenson Clarke, of West Palm Beach, Keith Nagy, of Jacksonville, and Andy Spears, of Palm City, all finished tied for third place with a tournament total of 151.

In the Senior Division, Dennis Brady, of Melbourne, prevailed in a playoff to win the division title. Brady carded rounds of 71-73 for a tournament total of even par 144 to find himself tied with Lee King, of Stuart, who also fired rounds of 71-73. The two players would head for a sudden death playoff where Brady would prevail by making a birdie on the second playoff hole. Robert Lundquist, of Sanford, and Kim Schwencke, of Temple Terrace, finished tied for third place with a tournament total of two-over par 146.

In the Super Senior Division, Jerry Jackson, of Sarasota, went wire-to-wire to win by one stroke with a tournament total of one-over par 145. Jackson posted a first round of two-under par 70 to take a three stroke lead heading into the final round of play. Jackson carded a three-over par 75 in the final round to hang on for the victory. Edward Craig, of Orlando, finished alone in second place after rounds of 73-73. Pat Monti, of The Villages, finished in third place with a tournament total of five-over par 149.
