Amer Ari Invitational: Texas Longhorns remain in lead

Waikoloa Beach Resort - Kings' Course
Changing wind directions and speed were the major challenge of the second day of the 22nd Annual Amer Ari at Waikoloa Beach on the Waikoloa Kings' Course.

UCLA's Pontus Widegren leads the field with at 9-under-par 135 (66-69). Tied in second place at 8-under-par, 136 are Texas'Toni Hakula, USC' Jeffrey Kang and Stanford's Patrick Rodgers.

Texas retained the team lead at 19-under-par 557. They are followed by UCLA (560), USC (561), Washington (562), Georgia Tech and Stanford (567), Arizona State (571), TCU (574), Oklahoma State (576), Chico State (580), San Jose State and San Francisco (581), Hawaii (583), Osaka Gakuin and Oregon (584), Oregon State and Hawaii Hilo (585), Colorado (586) and UC Davis (605).

Blake Snyder continues to lead the host Vulcans and is tied for 30th place at 1-under-par 143 after a 1-under-par, 71 in the second round. Russell turned in 1-under-par 71 in the second round and is two strokes back of Snyder at 1-over-par 145 and tied for 45th place.

Completing the Vulcan squad are Jaime Hall (T66, 75-73-148), Chris Shimomura (T88, 73-78=151) and Nick Matsushima (T109, 81-76=157).

Five Vulcans are playing as individuals and unattached. Corey Kozuma is tied for 66th place at 4-over-par, 148. Blaine Fujimoto is tied for 75th place at 5-over-par 149. Dalen Yamauchi is tied for 98th place at 8-over-par 152. Kelii Dias is tied for 106th place at 12-over-par, 156. Christian Agosto is at 28-over-par 172 after today's round of 80.
