FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Jan. 19, 2011) -- Three-time U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur champion and amateurgolf.com member Meghan Stasi advanced to the semifinals with a 3 & 2 win over England's Charley Hull, the defending champion. Stasi will meet Harriet Beasley of the UK in tomorrow's semifinals. Beasley took 22 holes to beat Mika Yen-Sho Liu of Bradenton, FL.
In the lower bracket Alex Stewart of Carson City, NV defeated the number two seed, Kailey Walsh of Boca Raton, FL 2 & 1. Jaye Marie Green, the 2011 Sally champion also from Boca Raton, took out Annie Dulman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL 3 & 2. Stewart and Green will meet tomorrow.
The battles continued in the senior flight. Anna Schultz of Rockwall, TX the 2007 USGA Senior Women's Champion, dispatched the defending champion with a 4 & 3 win. Schultz will meet Lisa Schlesinger of Laytonsville, MD in the semifinals.
Schlesinger, who made it to the semifinals in last year's USGA Women's Senior Amateur upset the two-time USGA Women's Senior champion, Diane Lang 3 & 2. That may have been payback as Lang beat Schlesinger by two shots a few weeks ago as Lang won her third Dixie Senior Amateur.
Lin McMillan of Palm Coast, FL defeated Arline Hoffman of Alexandria, VA 2-up and will meet Andrea Kraus of Baltimore, MD in the semis. Kraus defeated Therese Quinn of Jacksonville, FL 5 & 4.
The semifinal matches start tomorrow at 8:16 a.m. The finals start on Saturday at 8:20 a.m.
