Kimberly Lorenzana medals at California Women's Amateur
CARMEL, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2011) – The second round of qualifying for the 45th California Women’s Championship finished up today at the Golf Club at Quail Lodge under windy, cold conditions. Kimberley Lorenzana, a newly reinstated amateur from Long Beach, was medalist at 148 (71-77). The 2010 runner-up, Lauren Dobashi of Gold River was tied for second with Renata Young of Antioch at 150.
First round leader Lynne Cowan, a four-time winner of the tournament, ended up at 152, tied with Santa Cruz’s Sandy Woodruff a two-time California Senior Amateur champion. The 2006 champion, Marianne Towersey of Pebble Beach fired a 153 and tied with Jenni JenQ of Saratoga.
The medalist, Kimberly Lorenzana is set to meet Sally Tomlinson, the 32 seed in the first match on Friday at 8:00. Veteran player Sandy Woodruff will meet Lucy Li, the youngest player in the history of the tournament to make the cut at age nine. The fourth grader from Redwood Shores shot 171 with rounds of 84-87.
The second round of match play for the championship flight starts at 1:00 p.m on Friday. The quarterfinals and semifinals will play on Saturday with the 36 hole final match on Sunday starting at 8:00 a.m. The Helen Lengfield flight starts on Friday at 10:08 a.m. The quarterfinals and semifinals play on Saturday and the 18-hole finals play on Sunday.

Links until 1987 when the Championship was invited
to Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, where it was
played through 2019.

round, 18 holes each day, to determine 32
players
for match play. Prizes will be awarded
to the Champion, Runner-up, Semifinalists,
Quarterfinalists
and the 36-hole Low Gross Medalist
from qualifying rounds.
