BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 24, 2011) -- Paul Simson leads by one shot after the first round in Dale Morey division play at the 2011 Society of Seniors Championship at Pine Needles Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. Simson's first-round 69 was one shot better than Ernie Newton and Vinny Giles. In Owens Divisional play, John Baldwin leads Jerry Jackson and the field by a shot, following a 72. Jim Ono shot 72 and leads the Super Seniors division.

54 hole stroke play event that honors one of the founders of the SOS, Dale Morey, who won more than 250 events in a lifetime of golf. In 2021 the tournament switched to a single division. SOS annual meeting and banquet is held with this tournament.
