In the 28 and over division, the father and son pair of Jarrod  and Steve Owen, of Vero Beach, posted rounds of 68-67 for a tournament total of nine-under par 135, to edged out the field by one stroke to win the Championship.  In the 18-27 year old division, Mark  and Case Gard, of Lakeland, went wire-to-wire posting rounds of 64-69, for a tournament total of 11-under par 133 to win their second Parent-Child Championship. In the 17 and under division,  David and  Jeremy Perna, of Sarasota, fired rounds of 66-68, to edge out two teams by one stroke and capture the title.

BELLS WIN 10-12 DIVISION

Don  and Don Bell Jr. , of Port Orange, prevailed to win the 10-12 age division. The father and son team finished with 53 stableford points to to win in a playoff over Kristian  and Ricky Fortis, from Key Largo, for their second consecutive championship.

VICKERS WIN 8-9 DIVISION

Michael and  Gus Vickers, of Naples, finished with 52 stableford points to win their second consecutive championship in the 8-9 age division.  This is the Vicker’s third state championship in a row after winning the 6-7 age division in 2009.

NEWMANS WIN 6-7 DIVISON

Charles  and Grant Newman, from Orlando, gained 48 points to win in a playoff over  Elliot and  Derek Tomko, of Winter Haven, for the 6-7 age division title.

The Parent-Child Championship is the largest Florida State Golf Association administered event. Since 1997, the Walt Disney World Resort has hosted the Parent- Child Championship. The Parent-Child Championship has become an annual event for many families. The tournament is open to everyone, including grandparents who want to play with a grandchild and professionals who want to compete with their child or grandchild. There is no maximum age limitation for the parent or child. The event consists of two divisions; junior and regular. In the junior division, the child must be between 6-12 years of age, and in the regular division the child must be 13 or older.

The junior division played the Oak Trail executive course in 9 holes of modified alternate shot format using the Stableford scoring each day. The regular divisions were split on the Palm, Magnolia and Osprey Ridge courses, and played 36 holes of modified alternate shot.
