Leading the field by three after the first two rounds at 137, the sophomore at the University of Washington, finished up with a final round of 70. His three round total of 207 was two strokes better than veteran Randy Haag of Burlingame and Patrick Kucich of Stockton who finished tied for second at 209.

Haag, who was a semifinalist last week at the California State Amateur, played at Olympic Club trailed McElyea by three starting the day. Haag made a charge with a final round 69 but came up two strokes short.

Patrick Kucich, who recently won the Manteca City, trailed by five after two rounds and shot a final round 67. Low round of the day went to Bill Moore with a 66.

The senior division was won by amateurgolf's Jim Knoll of Sunnyvale, who blew away the field with a seven stroke margin of victory. Knoll shot 69, 70 for a two-day total 139. Knoll's great play continues as he just won the NCGA Senior in April and the Salinas City in March.

Second place went to Mark Miller of Antioch who shot 73-73, 146. Casey Boyns of Pacific Grove took third with 147. Miller and Boyns are also amateurgolf.com members.
