ALAMEDA, Calif. (April 6, 2011) -- The
84th Alameda Commuters Golf
Tournament is set to begin play April 9-10
and 16-17, 2010 at the Chuck Corica Golf
Complex.
The Alameda Commuters is
one of Northern California's more prestigious and
premiere amateur golf events. The event has been
played at the Alameda golf course, since its
inception in 1927. The event is played as a 72 hole
stroke play format.
Starting times for the first two rounds have been
posted at www.alamedacommuters.org.
Scheduled to compete for the 2011 Commuters
Championship are: 2010 Champion: George
Grandanata (shown at left) along with past
“Commuters” champions Rick Reinsberg ( ’03-‘04’-
06’-07), Darryl Donovan (’00-01’) and current NCGA
Player of the Year, Randy Haag (1994). Alamedan’s
playing in the championship division are: Michael
Schmitz, Andrew Wood, Rob Schmitz, Alameda Golf
Club Champion Rich Schacht, Matt Hettich, Shawn
Shelby, Patrick Byrne, and Patrick Wlazio.
The Alameda Commuters is
also proud to announce the 24th annual Alameda
Commuters Senior Golf Tournament to be conducted
April 16th and 17th. The Alameda
Commuters Senior division, for amateur
golfers over 55, continues to attract one of the
strongest senior amateur fields in Northern
California. Scheduled to compete are: Jeff Burda,
John Enright, Mark Miller, all who will play along
with 2 time defending champion Jim Knoll. Alameda’s
Bob Blomberg who own 6 “Commuters” titles will
also compete for the senior crown. He will be
playing along side Alameda’s Mark Merrigan: one of
Northern California’s finest players who is just
coming off competing in the Northern California
Senior Amateur championship.
All golf will be conducted at Alameda’s
exceptional championship golf courses, located at
the Chuck Corica Golf Complex. Play starts at 7:30
am April 9-10, 2010.
