Gary Monisteri San Mateo Match Play
2010 Champion Brent Booth
SAN MATEO, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2010) -- Brent Booth of Los Altos beat Andrew Biggadike of San Mateo 2 & 1 in the finals of the Gary Monisteri San Mateo County Match Play Championship played at Poplar Creek Golf Course.

Booth, a recent graduate of U.C. Davis and player on the men's golf team expected a good match with his opponent. Biggadike went up early in the match then Booth came back trading holes and they were AS through 9. On hole 11, when the rain really started coming down, Booth made a nice 15 foot birdie putt to go 2up. Biggadike then won 13 and 14 to even up the match. At this point, the wind was blowing 25-30mph and Booth made a good par on 15 to go 1up. Hole 16 was a long par 4 into the strong wind and neither of the players reached the green in 2. Booth hit one of his best shots of the day, a 25 yard pitch that took 2 hops and stopped 1 inch from the cup. Biggadike missed his lengthy par putt, making Booth dormie in the match. They both hit the par 3 17th, and after Biggadike ran his birdie putt past the hole, Booth cozied it up and won the match.

Speaking about his match Booth said, "It was a lot of fun and Andrew was a great competitor. I am honored to have my name on the same trophy as Ken Venturi and other great golfers. The tournament committee did a great job and put on a fantastic tournament. This win definitely gives me some confidence going into the winter season, and I am excited to get back out there and compete again. It was also nice having my Dad on the bag for the win."
