Hardin and Reynolds Win DFW Tournament of Champions

Fresh off her victory in the U.S. Women's Senior Championship, Mina Hardin of the Mira Vista Country Club in Fort Worth posted 71-71—142 at the Stonebriar Country Club Fazio Course in Frisco to score a repeat victory in The ESPN Golf Connection Tournament of Champions and claim the Toni Weisner Trophy. It was her fifth time to win the event.
David Reynolds of the Trophy Club Country Club, who got to keep the Ben Parks Trophy in his house for a couple of days so it could be returned since defending champion Clark Kincaid was unable to play, ended up getting his name added to the trophy to win the men's division. He needed a 15-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole to edge Burk Goldthorn of the Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch after the pair tied at 146.
Kathy Crumley of the Lakewood Country in Dallas had to settle for the roles of bridesmaid again in the women's division with 76-72—148. Rounding out the top five were Brooke Williams of the Ridglea Country Club in Fort Worth (149), Sherry Clark of the Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas (150) and Jordan Rose of the Diamond Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth (151).
Chris Brown of Firewheel Golf Park and Jim Neumann of the host club matched par 72 in the second round to finish third and fourth with 148 and 149. respectively. First-round leader Doug McKeever, the Dallas Public Links Player of the Year, slipped to a closing 78 for 149 and fifth in a scorecard playoff.
