TUCSON, AZ (February 21, 2010)--Long time amateurgolf.com member and supporter Cyrus Whitney teamed up with reigning Arizona Mid-Amateur champion Matt Bergstrom to win the Roy Tatum Best Ball in a three-team playoff.
A field of about 80 teams competed in the popular 36-hole best-ball tournament at the Randolph and Dell Urich Golf Courses in Tucson. The tournament is named after the former University of Arizona golf coach Roy Tatum.
After finishing with a 133 total, Whitney and Bergstrom joined the teams of Patrick Geare/Jerry Huff and Tom Beach/Erik Nielson in the sudden-death playoff. On the first playoff hole, Bergstrom, a former University of Arizona player, made birdie for the win.
