Masters 2014: Titleist ambassador Matt Jones gets final invite
It was certainly a memorable Sunday that was full of highlights at the Shell Houston Open for Titleist Brand Ambassador Matt Jones. And a quick review of how his day unfolded helps solidify how special it really was…

Matt carded a final round 6-under par 66 that featured a 46-foot, double-breaking putt for birdie on the final hole of regulation. His approach to this putt?

"I was going to three-putt (the 72nd hole) before I left it short," Jones said. "I didn't care about finishing second or third or fourth; it didn't matter. I was only trying to get the win."

Going for the win paid off and sinking this putt ultimately secured Matt a spot in a sudden death playoff with one other player.

The players headed back to the 18th hole to start the playoff and after playing his second shot short and to the right of a greenside bunker at the long par-4, Matt surveyed his options and came up with a game plan.

"I walked up there and told my caddy I was going to chip it in.”

Some 40 yards from the hole and with his Vokey Design wedge in-hand, Matt stepped up to his Pro V1x and played a perfect chip shot that landed at the base of a ridge in the green, checked, rolled gently over the ridge and then curled into the left side of the cup with the last of its forward momentum.

“When I saw it disappear it's probably the happiest I've been on the golf course."

And at the end of the day, that was the shot that earned Matt his first career PGA Tour title and secured the final invitation to the 2014 Masters."Going to Augusta is amazing," Jones said. "The win means everything to me right now because that's what we play for is to win. To have Augusta as a reward for that win is amazing.”

FAST FACTS: Matt Jones tied for 1st in Birdies at the Shell Houston Open with 22 for the week. He also ranked 1st in the Strokes Gained Putting (2.518) and Putts Per GIR (1.638) categories, and ranked 2nd in Bogeys (only 4 bogeys total).

Congratulations, Matt! See you in Augusta.
