HATTIESBURG, Miss. (March 21, 2014) -- Joel Myrick has the birdie part down at Hattiesburg Country Club. If he keeps that up, he's going to be tough to beat.
Myrick, 30, made six birdies, including three on a nearly perfect front nine of 33, before recording his first bogey at the par-3 11th. The former Southern Miss golfer, who resides in Hattiesburg, rolled to 5-under on the day after back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17 before closing out with a bogey.
One shot behind Myrick is defending champ Ben Snow, who also won in 2009. Snow had a bogey-free round of 69. The 54-hole tournament continues on Saturday and concludes Sunday.
